Welcome, A Long Way Gone readers!

By now you should have read up through Chapter 18 of the memoir.  Remember that you should have the entire book read by Monday.

Your assignment today is to choose a background article that you have not read.  Create a five-item (or more) quiz on the article, addressing what you consider to be the most important points in the article.  Be sure to label your quiz and include your answers on your student page.

Finally, make sure that your page is complete.  At this point you should have:

     1.  A journal entry reaction to the first background article you read.

     2.  A journal entry reaction to Section 1 of the memoir.

     3.  A journal entry reaction to the article about the "factual flaws" in A Long Way Gone.

     4.  Five discussions questions for Section 2 of the memoir.

     5.  A summary of Section 3 of the memoir.

     6.  Two comments on other student pages.

     7.  A five-item quiz for the background article of your choice.

Leftover time?  Here are some things you can/should consider before you do anything else:

• Check out the extra credit film project.
• Go to www.freerice.com , work on your vocabulary skills, and donate rice to the UN World Food Bank!
• Work on your zine (create an outline, develop ideas, gather visuals, type journal entries, etc.) 
• Read Section 5 of your book (due Monday).
